Support your local library and get a great deal on books. The sale includes books which have been donated by patrons, as well as books that are being retired from the library’s collection. Some of the books are in “like new” condition. Paperbacks are fifty cents and most hardbound books are only a dollar. Join us on Saturday from 12-3 p.m. and fill a bag for only $3.00.
The sale will kick off with a “Member’s Only Night” Thursday, March 27, from 5 – 8 p.m. Membership is inexpensive and entitles you to shop the sale before the general public for the best selection. You may join or renew your annual membership at the door.
The book sale opens to the public Friday, March 28, from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturday, March 29, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. All proceeds benefit Davie County Public Library’s youth and adult programs. There is still time to donate books to the sale- simply turn them in at the library or bring them with you to the sale.
The “Friends” are grateful for the community support received last year. Our National Library Week Appreciation luncheon for the volunteers and staff of the library was sponsored in part by Domino’s Pizza on Valley Road in Mocksville.
Because of the donations we received from our local Walmart and Food Lion, we were able to provide Halloween treats in the fall and Christmas candy for the parade. We are thankful for local businesses that care about our community.
Each year, the F.O.L. provides financial support to help bring excellent speakers such as Dr. Elliot Engel and purchases extra items such as the “giveaway” of a “Nook” e-reader for the “Teen Tech Week”. The “Friends” regularly help the library update its technology and every year sponsors the Summer Reading Program’s party as well coordinating volunteers and helping financially with youth and adult programs that may not be fully funded by the library’s regular budget.
The Friends of the Davie County Public Library is a 501 (c) (3) group, so donations are tax-deductible. All book sale funds, membership fees and donations support our library programs, or are used to encourage and educate the library staff and volunteers.
